Summary:
AI tools in the academic space continue to evolve and adapt to new use cases. While faculty are slowly turning to AI to assist with course creation and grading, they often cast a wary eye on students using it for coursework. Yet, student use of AI continues to grow.
This confusing landscape presents an opportunity for libraries to lead campus-wide AI literacy, helping students use new technologies effectively, ethically and in a way that faculty can embrace.
Join us as we explore how libraries are guiding students’ use of AI and building faculty comfort with these new technologies.

Rachael Clark
Collections Strategy & Assessment LibrarianWayne State UniversityIn addition to her role in evaluating eResources and assessment initiatives, Rachael serves as the liaison to the School of Information Sciences (SIS) where she is an Adjunct Instructor for a course in Advanced Reference Service Strategies. Her teaching role extends beyond the classroom, and she often works with graduate student assistants, and other SIS students, to provide hands-on experience in assessment, collections, and curriculum support activities. She also provides liaison services to the School of Information Sciences, including library research support, reference, and user-engagement initiatives.
Stephen Kemsley
Senior Manager of User Experience DesignClarivateStephen Kemsley leads user research and design for the ProQuest Platform and other Clarivate content platforms. His team’s recent work includes the ProQuest Research Assistant and ongoing research into evolving user attitudes and behaviors around artificial intelligence. Stephen is a passionate advocate for accessibility and is committed to amplifying user voices to shape product strategy and design decisions.
Marc Cormier (moderator)
Director of Product ManagementClarivateMarc manages some of ProQuest’s largest aggregated databases and is heavily involved in Clarivate’s development of AI tools, including ProQuest’s Research Assistant. A large part of his role is working with customers to balance the scholarly information needs of faculty and students with emerging technologies and their place within the academic community. His areas of focus include AI tool assessment, faculty use cases, and digital literacy.
