“AI literacy” is a term that gets thrown around a lot, but what is it? How does it compare to other literacy frameworks?
McGill University librarians Sandy Hervieux and Amanda Wheatley published a white paper with Choice this fall highlighting the insufficiencies of ACRL’s information literacy framework for dealing with the unique challenges of AI and outlining their novel framework. This week, they gave a webinar on their findings, “Empowering Librarians with AI Literacy: A Framework for Navigating and Teaching AI.” The Q&A session dug into the pedagogical, ethical, and practical implications of this framework.
