Conversations about the lifecycle of scholarly communication

How can libraries articulate their value in today’s political and economic environment? Last month’s series featured advice from experts with firsthand experience helping the library establish its importance on campus. Our guests discussed how to gather and present quantifiable metrics, along with strategies to better align the library’s mission with that of its university. The guests further shared the value of unveiling the behind-the-scenes work shepherded by library staff so administration can understand what the library really brings to the table. We hope you find the episodes beneficial and engaging.

August’s series brought together Jeffrey Gold, President of the University of Nebraska System, Hilary Craiglow, Library Consulting Practice Lead at Attain Partners, and Emily McElroy, Vice President of Academic Relations at Taylor & Francis. The conversation centered on how academic libraries can secure funding and maintain a seat at the leadership table. The speakers began by uncovering barriers such as poor campus culture, stressing the need to develop partnerships on and off campus. In addition, the speakers recommended combining metrics with context to paint a fuller picture of the library’s story and discussed ways to communicate effectively with donors. Brought to you by Taylor & Francis.
