As AI continues to make waves across the scholarly communications industry, how is Choice approaching the technology? Last month’s two-part series featured Daniel Pfeiffer, social sciences editor and LibTech Insights (LTI) editor at Choice, who profiled growing AI trends and their impact on librarianship. Daniel started with background on LTI, chronicling how the library technology blog has expanded to include webinars and job profiles. Our speaker also reflected on the launch of ChatGPT and speculated whether AI has become a marketing buzzword. Our speaker further shared Choice’s plans to begin reviewing academic AI products and detailed a new LTI white paper on developing an AI literacy framework.

Last month, Daniel Pfeiffer, social sciences editor at Choice and editor of LibTech Insights (LTI), joined editorial director and TAF host Bill Mickey to discuss AI in higher education and the library. Bill and Daniel walked through LTI’s January 2023 launch and how the blog provides librarians with tips they can apply at their own institutions. Daniel underscored the importance of AI literacy, providing an overview of a free LTI white paper that draws on interviews with academic librarians who work with the technology. Our guest also predicted future directions for AI and shared a behind-the-scenes look at the Choice Reviews Rubric for evaluating AI tools.
