RCL Seeks New Sports and Recreation Subject Editor

Are you passionate about collection services and interested in contributing to the profession in a new way? Resources for College Libraries (RCL), the Choice/ACRL database of over 90,000 essential titles for academic libraries, is seeking a new subject editor for Sports and Recreation.
RCL subject editors maintain core title lists of the most important monographs—historical and contemporary—in a discipline. Successful editors balance extensive subject expertise and judicious selection skills. The Sports and Recreation subject is a multidisciplinary field that includes approximately 1,000 works covering sports studies, exercise science, business of sport, recreation, biomechanics and more.
RCL editorial responsibilities include:
- Selecting new title additions, including select web resources
- Updating, reviewing, and weeding current selections
- Maintaining and refining the subject taxonomy and scope note
- Responding to recommendations from peer reviewers
- Integrating advancements in teaching and scholarship
This multi-year role involves a time commitment of approximately 30-40 hours per year, with flexible deadlines and remote workflow. This is a professional service and publication opportunity; subject editors also receive an annual honorarium.
